Correct sizing is the single most important determinant of whether an Alignova posture corrector delivers its intended proprioceptive cue. The following measurements and instructions apply to all current Alignova adjustable models.

How to measure

Alignova sizing is based on chest circumference, taken with a standard tailor's tape:

  1. Stand upright, with arms relaxed at your sides and the shoulders in their natural — not retracted — position.
  2. Wrap the tape horizontally around the fullest part of the chest, directly under the armpits, and across the nipple line.
  3. The tape should sit snug against the body but not compress soft tissue. Exhale normally before reading the measurement.
  4. Record the value in inches or centimeters. If you are between sizes, refer to the "Between sizes" note below.

Size chart

Alignova size Chest circumference Typical apparel equivalent
S 28 – 32 in (71 – 81 cm) U.S. XS – S
M 32 – 38 in (81 – 97 cm) U.S. S – M
L 38 – 44 in (97 – 112 cm) U.S. L – XL
XL 44 – 50 in (112 – 127 cm) U.S. XXL

Between sizes

If your chest circumference falls at the upper end of one Alignova size and the lower end of the next, choose the smaller size. The Alignova tri-strap adjustment system has more usable range at the open end than the closed end, and a marginally tighter starting position delivers more accurate proprioceptive feedback than a marginally loose one. If you anticipate weight fluctuation or seasonal layering, the larger size is acceptable but expect the cue to feel softer.

Fit verification

After receiving your Alignova garment:

  1. Put it on over a single fitted layer (cotton t-shirt or equivalent). Direct skin contact is acceptable but tends to be warmer for extended use.
  2. Adjust the side straps so that the back panel sits flat against the upper thoracic region without bunching.
  3. Tension the shoulder straps until you feel a clear, gentle pull when your shoulders begin to round forward. You should be able to take a full deep breath without restriction. If you cannot, release one click of tension.
  4. Wear the garment for 5 to 10 minutes seated at your normal workstation. The cue should be perceptible but not painful. Sharp pain, numbness, or tingling means the garment is over-tensioned — reduce the strap tension and reassess.

If the fit is wrong

If after fit verification you conclude that the Alignova size you ordered is not correct, the recommended workflow is to return the original garment for refund under the Alignova 30-day satisfaction guarantee and place a new order for the correct size. Alignova does not process direct exchanges. Begin a return by emailing support@alignovastore.com.

Special considerations

  • Broad shoulders, narrower chest. The Alignova size is determined by chest circumference; shoulder width is accommodated by the adjustable strap system across all sizes.
  • Larger bust. Measure across the fullest part of the chest, as instructed; the back panel sits above the bust line and is not affected.
  • Post-surgical or post-injury. Do not use an Alignova garment over recovering tissue without explicit clearance from your treating clinician.
